Roy Webster, Pastor
Reverend Roy Webster was saved at the age of eight, after seeing a Christian film. At age eleven, his parents, Dick and Karen Webster, took their family to Argentina, following God’s call to serve as missionaries on the foreign field. After a short time they returned to the U.S. for health reasons, but God later used that experience in Roy’s life, calling him to return to Argentina as a missionary. When he was seventeen years old, he surrendered to that call and went to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri to pursue a degree in Missions. After graduating in 1993, he married his wife, Jennifer. After she graduated in 1995, they came to work at Grayson Bible Baptist Church under Dr. Eddy Johnson. The Websters served here for four years in the Youth Pastor/Missions Intern position. In September of 1999 they were approved as Missionaries with Baptist Bible Fellowship International, and went on Deputation to raise financial support. On December 28, 2000 the Websters went to Argentina with their 2-year-old daughter, Kirsten.
Roy and Jennifer spent nearly eleven years in the city of Buenos Aires. Their son, Lucas was born on furlough in 2003 and taken back to Argentina at five months. During their time on the mission field the Websters established a church with its’ own property and facilities and left it in the care of a national pastor. They trained teachers and workers in the church, and Roy taught in several different Bible Seminaries. His command of the Spanish language and enthusiastic preaching style made him much sought after as a speaker for special meetings and family conferences, as well as youth conferences and camps in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile.
In 2010, God began working on Roy’s heart about returning to the U.S. to pastor. Dr. Eddy Johnson, the church’s pastor of 20 years was looking for someone to succeed him upon his retirement. After months of prayerful deliberation, the Webster's decided to follow God’s call in reverse and return to Texas. In January 2012, Roy came on staff at GBBC as Associate Pastor, then after a one-year transition period, Dr. Eddy Johnson retired on December 30, 2012. Roy Webster’s first official Sunday as pastor of Grayson Bible Baptist Church was January 6, 2013.
